5th Grade Mammal Project    Due October 2nd
Student project

1. collect pictures of, and information about, a mammal of your choice

2 Arrange collected material neatly and attractively on a standard piece of poster board

3. Include the following information:
    a. the name
    b. a picture of the mammal
    c. its predators
    d. its prey
    e. its size
    f. its tracks
    g. its range

We have been in school for two weeks and are getting the hang of our schedules. We've moved math and language around and find it makes for a smoother day. Computer keyboard class is on Thursday afternoons and they'll learn correct and accurate fingering by semester. We also practice math on the computer on Thursdays.

We had a field trip to Riverside assisted living home on Tuesday. The residents really enjoy the students' visit.
The students are getting better at keeping their assignment books signed and using it to make sure they are taking home the correct books.

  Welcome to a new school year. I will try this year to put blogs on the GI  Christian website on a regular basis. This is my first attempt.

  I am really excited about the student's new assignment book this year. I think this will be a good organizational tool for them. We will do more writing this year and focus on quality writing in penmanship and all other subjects.

 Mrs. Steele will be teaching Physical Education three times a week this year and Mrs. Alhman will continue with music.

Our Achievement testing begins on Monday and we will be taking the tests in the morning. Students should get good rest each night and eat a good breakfast before school in order to do their best on these tests. We are running and doing aerobics in PE.  We'll do this until the end of the year. We'll also do activities to get us ready for Field Day.

We have been enjoying pie day Fridays for the past quarter of the year. We will finish the year with a pie day Thursday,May 22nd,2008,  by going to Tommy's Restaurant and ordering from their large pie selection. Let me know if you would like your child not to attend. It is my treat and we will just get pie. We will go in the afternoon after we have finished our tests. We'll come back and clean out the desks, the room, and the hall. I can't believe how quickly the year has passed.
