Christmas Countdown
Now that we’ve “gobbled until we wobbled” and “shopped until we dropped” it’s time to get back to work for a few more weeks until Christmas vacation.
This is a difficult time of year for our students because it’s natural for them to want to just coast into the next break. But there is much to be accomplished and as they say, “time is short.”
Honoring God by Memorizing Scripture
Last Friday at Chapel I was blessed to hear our students recite their memory verses. As always, they did a terrific job and it's such a blessing to see the joy on their faces as they recite.
It's as if they were saying, "Lord, I value your words so much that I'm going to commit them to memory. I don't ever want to forget what you say."
What if your son or daughter said that to you? After picking yourself up off the floor you would probably feel quite honored and blessed. Maybe this is how our Lord feels when we commit his words to memory.
Life's Little Things
In our busyness it’s easy to forget that God is at work and in charge of our lives, even of the little things.
The author of Hebrews tells us that Jesus is at this very moment “sustaining all things by his powerful word (Hebrews 1:3).” It’s very humbling to think that I would cease to exist if God were to withhold His word.
But it’s encouraging, too, because this verse means that God is much more than a bystander in our lives. He is intricately and thoroughly involved.
