The Matthew 18 Principal for Schools
"If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over” (Mat 18:15).
This verse applies mainly to relationships within the Church, but I think there is a principle here that would benefit us, too.
Whenever people interact there is the potential for miscommunication and causing offense. In fact, I believe if you haven’t been offended lately, or caused someone to be offended recently, just wait, you probably will be. After all, we’re only human.
The Lord Disciplines those He Loves
As a staff, we have been reading through the book of Hebrews, and last week we finished chapter 12. We’ve learned a lot about trusting Christ when times are difficult and the following verses were especially helpful to me.
Bringing Every thought into Captivity
2 Corinthians 10:5 says we should be, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
To have control over every thought is not an easy task, and yet it is what this verse calls us to do. From this passage, it’s clear that the kind of thoughts we are to be casting down are the ones that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God.
